جولی که از ابتدا رابطه چندان صمیمی با پدرش نداشت در پی مصاحبه‌های جنجالی پدرش با رسانه‌ها به کلی با او قطع ارتباط کرد.
در یک میهمانی هالیوودی که علاوه بر «آنجلینا جولی»، «جان ویت» نیز حضور داشت، زمانیکه پدرش جلو رفت تا او را در آغوش بگیرد، جولی به یکی از بادیگاردها دستور داد که جلو برود و به وی بفهماند که باید برود پی کارش.
